A good listen on overlanding Alaska

I’ve been noodling on the idea of doing an overland trip to the Arctic Circle in the summer of 2023 or 2024. So when I saw this week’s Overland Journal Podcast episode, Destination Alaska, I moved it to the top of my listening queue. I was not disappointed.

What I learned in this podcast has me rethinking the trip in many ways. Matt Scott’s experiences tell a story of a changing landscape and a profound shift in the optimal time of year for the journey. The comparisons with Scott Brady’s previous trips are interesting and valuable. The conversation offers much to contemplate about the responsibilities of overlanders (and tourists in general) to the ecosystems we love.

I always appreciate Overland Journal’s editorial commitment to unflinching inquiry and not being afraid to sometimes live in the question—instead of having all the answers.
